bathroom has a step-up tiolet and is approx. 3'x5'
Very good question. It's such a small area. I was thinking perhaps, if you didn't go with large tiles and used a mesh sheet of 2" x 2" tiles instead it would reduce the chance of the tiles cracking, but your grout would still crack. The backer board would flex and pop off tiles. Ceramic tile requires zero flex. I doubt you have the head room to do a reinforced slab.
Full spread adhesive installed sheet vinyl would be the best material to use for your bathroom. For your step up edge use a vinyl stair molding. Silicone seal the perimeter of the floor. I could understand why you would want to use ceramic.
Take care.
Too heavy!! But, the bigger problem is that in a motor home you'll have some movement in the surface that you're tiling on, so it'll never last. It'll start cracking.

Loving and studying the flooring industry for over 8 years and hubby is a car guy. Combined effort on this one.
With such a small area the smaller tile would be the way to go both for remaining in a stabile position and for the aesthetic visual comfort if you will.
I doubt that the structure of the motor would not be rigid enough to support your idea.
However I would try, to go one step further, to see if there is a silicone based grout that would be more flexible for the project.
Good Luck and Happy Motoring!!!
