stuff at home that i could use to clean my motor?

i want to clean up my motor the best i can and i was wondering if there was something at home that i could use? such as armor all, windex ect. anything to that effect something i dont have to go buy and something i would have at home. thanks

If the motor is very dirty, you can use oven cleaner to degrease it, just a word of caution, do it when the motor is completely cold, as oven cleaner is quite flammable. Armor-all is good on plastic and composite parts, such as the intake covers used on most newer cars.

Hot soapy water and a long-handled scrub brush will work wonders at taking off the grime and oil. It’s not quick or easy, but it does the job.

Just be careful about spraying water at high pressure around electronic components and wiring connectors. Low pressure water, as from a garden hose, won’t hurt anything if you’re careful as most things in the engine compartment are designed to get wet (think driving through a puddle on a rainy day).

    Have fun!
